A few months ago, I highlighted this excerpt and wrote a note: "Your options."
I was reminding myself then that I did have options. I still do now.
When the waves of emotion crash on you for the first time, it's inevitable to feel powerless (especially if you tend to be anxious)—like you don't have a choice, like there's nothing you can do. It's okay to feel that way...at least for a little while.
But at some point, you have to remember:
You can cultivate a high sense of agency.
